46 Canadians arrested following New Zealand-led probe into 'horrific' online child abuse

The RCMP says a dozen children have been brought to safety and almost 50 people have been arrested countrywide as part of a long-running global investigation into “disturbing” child abuse images shared online.

At a Wednesday morning news conference, Toronto police detailed its role in “Operation H,” which was launched in October 2019 by New Zealand’s child exploitation team after a service provider found thousands of users of an online platform sharing child sexual abuse material online.

“This material depicted some of the most horrific abuse of children investigators had ever seen,” said Deputy Chief of Police Myron Demkiw at a Wednesday morning news
