Peter Navarro, second ex-Trump aide to be prosecuted for contempt of Congress, faces trial Tuesday

Former White House trade adviser Peter Navarro goes on trial Tuesday as the second ex-aide to former President Donald Trump to be prosecuted for criminal contempt of Congress.

Navarro, like Trump ally Steve Bannon, faces charges over his lack of cooperation with subpoenas issued by the now-defunct House select committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, US Capitol attack.

Bannon was convicted by a jury last summer on two counts of criminal contempt in a case he’s now appealed to the Washington, DC, US Circuit Court of Appeals.

While the House committee investigation ended in early January, convictions in the criminal cases
