For many years, Juliet Daniel was the only Black female professor in the faculty of science at McMaster University in Hamilton.

Now, she’s on a mission to diversify the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The pioneering biologist and cancer researcher came to Kingston, Ont., from Barbados in 1983 to study medicine at Queen’s University.
