It was my granddaughter’s third birthday. There were bouncy castles, balloons, a cake. Kids playing, laughing, screaming. Hugs and kisses from a multitude of family members.

Except me. 

As I looked at the pictures on Facebook, I could see my granddaughter’s smile and the light in her eyes as she opened presents and I realized I had missed another milestone. My brain injury has stolen my sense of time — and so much
