Vancouver, BC (WNews) – Current and former users of iPhone 6 and 7 devices in Canada, who are eligible to submit a settlement claim in a class-action lawsuit against Apple, are now able to do so as part of a settlement offer that could pay up to $150 to eligible claimants.
In light of the announcement last month that the British Columbia Supreme Court had approved a proposed settlement that may amount to as much as $14.4 million, many of you have expressed an interest in knowing when and how to make a claim.
Our team had access to one of the affected phones and went through the claim process (without submitting the claim), so we can answer your questions as best as we can.
How do I know if I am eligible?
In order to be eligible for this contest, you must have been a Canadian resident as of June 15, 2023 (excluding Quebec) and have owned or owned an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7 and/or 7 Plus device running iOS 10.2.1 or later prior to December 21, 2017, and must be a Canadian resident as of June 15, 2023.
Quebec residents are involved in a separate class-action lawsuit.
Based on your residence as well as the device and iOS version of the device you are using, the form will inform you at the beginning of the claim process if your claim is eligible to continue.

Contact info@smartphoneperformancesettlement.ca if you need assistance with your claim.
When you do access the form you will need to provide your name, mailing address, phone number, email and your 12 alphanumerical digit device serial number.
You can find the serial number by going to Settings > General > About.
If you don’t have your device, the barcode can be found on the phone’s original packaging, receipt or invoice.
Only one claim may be submitted per eligible iPhone.
How much am I going to get? When?
According to the agreement, you could receive between $17.50 and $150, depending on how many people apply.
Either an email money transfer or a mailed check can be used to receive payment.
During the claim process, the exact payment date wasn’t stated before submitting.
Apple denies wrongdoing allegations
According to the website associated with the Canadian iPhone Power Management Class Action lawsuit, the settlement does not imply that Apple has admitted any liability, wrongdoing, or fault on its part.
The company denies the allegations that have been made against it.
