Coroner's inquest hears 911 calls connected to man later beaten by Vancouver police

A coroner’s inquest has heard from a man and a neighbour whose 911 calls prompted the police response that ended in the beating death of an unarmed man in Burnaby, B.C., nearly eight years ago.

Muhammed Reza, then a student, said he called police because he was scared after Myles Gray, 33, swore at his mother and sprayed her with a garden hose outside their home on Marine Drive in August 2015.

“[I was concerned for] my safety, the safety of people around my neighbourhood,” Reza said.
