For the third day in a row, Toronto is under a special weather statement for high levels of pollution in the air — and Thursday’s air quality is now about the same as the day before.
Environment Canada had previously predicted Thursday’s air would be the worst experienced this week. But by close to 11:30 a.m., the weather agency’s forecast put Toronto’s air as a seven out of the 10-point Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) scale. Wednesday’s air quality was also a seven.
Though the prediction was slightly downgraded, contaminant levels in the air are still high, said Steven Flisfeder, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada.
