2 missing after military helicopter crash near eastern Ontario base

The Department of National Defence (DND) says two people are missing and another two are in hospital after a CH-147 Chinook helicopter crashed into the Ottawa River near an eastern Ontario Canadian Army base during a training flight early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 12:10 a.m. ET Tuesday “near the Ottawa River in the vicinity of Garrison Petawawa,” according to a tweet from the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Four Canadian Armed Forces personnel were on board at the time, according to a tweet from National Defence Minister Anita Anand.
